GUN GRAB: Dem Bill Would Ban Gun Carry For Owners Without Insurance

(Rallying Patriots) – Radical leftists are once again trying to find a way to foil the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens, this time in the form of a new piece of legislation being considered in the state of Maryland which would make it a requirement for those who carry firearms to buy, at minimum, $300,000 in liability insurance or forfeit their right to carry. This, of course, is very expensive and will prevent many people from being able to have their weapon on them when they might need it most.

“The controversial legislation, introduced by Delegate Terri Hill, D-Howard County, would prohibit the ‘wear or carry’ of a gun anywhere in the state unless the individual has obtained a liability insurance policy of at least $300,000,” Fox News noted.

“A person may not wear or carry a firearm unless the person has obtained it and is covered by liability insurance issued by an insurer authorized to do business in the State under the Insurance Article to cover claims for property damage, bodily injury, or death arising from an accident resulting from the person’s use or storage of a firearm or up to $300,000 for damages arising from the same incident, in addition to interest and costs,” the proposed Maryland legislation goes on to say.

Those who work for the military or local law enforcement are not bound by the requirement in the bill. It also contains an insurance exemption if a gun is not loaded. Not sure why anyone would carry around a weapon for defense if it’s not loaded. Without bullets they’re useless, which is a fact that should not need to be clarified.

Hill, doing an interview with FOX 45 News, stated that the legislation is an attempt at “common sense” gun control. The only real “gun control” we need is people to follow the law and practice their skills at taking down bad guys.

“She told the local outlet that the idea came after talking to a concerned constituent who said that gun owners should ‘bear some liability in cases where there is damage because of guns being used in ways that cause harm,'” the report continued.

Frank Duffy, a gun rights advocate, told the news outlet that the legislation is nothing more than the left’s latest attempt to keep law-abiding citizens from having the means to defend themselves from those who desire to take away their life, liberty, and property.

“It’s another effort by the state to throw an obstacle in front of people trying to get their conceal carry permits,” Duffy remarked. “The Supreme Court made a decision that said Maryland and other states could not require a good or substantial reason to get a permit.”

The folks at BizPac Review pointed out, “Co-sponsored by more than a dozen delegates, the majority party appeared all too willing to ignore, not only the inherent violation of the rights of the people of Maryland but the danger this would pose to those who would be unable to afford the coverage were it to pass.”

Things are so bad in Baltimore that superstar comedian Dave Chappelle made a joke about the city’s vibe by saying that deceased rapper Tupac Shakur moved from Baltimore to Oakland for a better life.

Joe Ested, a law enforcement expert and huge critic of the legislation asserted, “Whoever thought of this idea doesn’t understand the criminal element on the street. These guys don’t do it the right way.”

“The guys on the street don’t buy guns the legal way, they do it illegally. So, we need to target them,” he explained.

  1. Should be a requirement for everyone, no exemptions, including the armed services, police, prison guards, judicial officers as well as citizens if they are going to do it. I imagine the rates for the armed forces, police, judicial officers and correctional officers would be sky high. This includes all “just passing through” federal officers, agents, body guards and officials Don’t ask me to pay for it though.
