WATCH: ESPN Analyst Wants ‘Mount Rushmore’ Gone

(Rallying Patriots) – Isn’t it great when sports commentators and analysts decide to lecture Americans on US history? ESPN analyst and former NBA player Jalen Rose has decided to mount an attack against Mount Rushmore because he finds the very idea of the monument to be offensive.

South Dakota’s Mount Rushmore honors four US presidents, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln but Rose says the monument “to define greatness should be retired immediately.”

In a video shared on social media, Rose started by asking, “Why do you think Washington changed their name from Redskins?”

“I do a show and didn’t say that word for eight years,” Rose said. “Why? Because it’s offensive. What about the Cleveland Indians? Same thing. Why did they change the name? Because it’s offensive.”

Offensive to who, exactly? The only reason those teams changed their names is because their owners caved to the pressure of the woke radical left. Neither team is doing better financially because of the changes. Go woke, go broke.

Nonetheless, Rose continued, “I want to continue to challenge myself and to challenge you to do something. Can we retire using ‘Mount Rushmore’?

“That should be offensive to all of us, especially Native Americans, indigenous people who were the first people here before Christopher Columbus. That land was stolen from them when it was discovered that it contained gold.

“And 25 years later, to add insult to injury, four American presidents were put on what we call Mount Rushmore on the top of the dead bodies that [are] buried right underneath.”

For the record, there’s no evidence there are actually dead bodies buried underneath Mouth Rushmore. His comment is just typical leftist rhetoric meant to stir up the emotions of his followers.

Secondly, people like Rose love to pretend like white men just rode around massacring indigenous people and like white men were the only people in history to journey to new lands. Rose will conveniently never mention how much bloodshed took place among native American tribes before white people were even on the scene.

“Let’s stop using the term ‘Mount Rushmore’ when we’re talking about our favorite rappers, talking about our favorite movies, talking about our favorite players.

“I know you’re gonna see this video and I know you’re gonna take action,” Rose told those on Twitter who follow him.

Naturally, the response to Rose’s call to action were mixed. Some asserted that they agreed with Rose.

While others did not and pointed out that maybe he should stay in his lane.

One American who proudly disagreed with Rose’s assessment was South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem. The Republican posted a message for Rose in response to his video.

“The four men on Mount Rushmore were amazing, flawed American leaders who helped make America what it is today — the greatest country the world has ever known,” Noem tweeted.

“To the woke leftists obsessed with attacking these leaders, I’ve got news for you: not on my watch.”

It’s pretty hard for someone like Rose to dispute that America is the greatest country in the world as he sits in his ivory tower surrounded by millions of dollars lecturing the rest of us.

The four men memorialized on Mount Rushmore were flawed, just like the rest of us, but if it weren’t for them, Rose wouldn’t have had the incredible opportunities he’s had in his life.

Rose is too busy finding ways that he and others are “oppressed” to see the truth. Maybe he should just stick to sports.

  1. To Jalen Rose you can stop saying Mt Rushmore. Do not tell others what to say. Minorities and socialism hasn’t taken over fully.
Just a suggestion, why don’t you shed every vestige of living, like modern day living and go back to the prairies and teepees.
That’s a reality you cannot face.

  2. Rose is just like other self absorbed arrogant elitist people that think they have some right to lecture what they see as the peons. He should go see the rest of the world and if he finds a place he thinks is his perfect country give up his citizenship and see how that works out. This is our country not his country.
